The Opportunity On Substack

Why now is the best time to go all in

I posted one question on my Facebook profile.

The answers blew me away. Every single one was positive. So I went and looked for myself, and it was quiet in a way I didn’t expect. No ads. No interruption. People actually talking about things that mattered.

Here’s the exciting part. Substack isn’t another platform to add to an already full plate. It’s your home base. Everywhere else, Facebook, Instagram, wherever you’re spending your energy, becomes a way of pointing people back to the one place you actually own.

There’s a structural reason that matters. Substack only makes money when you do. They take 10% of paid subscriptions, nothing else. No ads to sell, no attention to auction off. Which means their incentive is to get your content in front of the right people. They want you to get found, because that’s the only way they get paid.

On social media, you’re one voice out of thousands, all of us trying to grab attention in a crowd that moves fast and gets louder every year.

On Substack, someone walks in because they’re looking for exactly what you have. Smaller crowd. But they’re there on purpose. That’s the difference between curating a community and churning leads.

I spent about four days building my publication around what I actually stand for, my pillars, be real, take a stand, change lives. I told my Facebook community I was moving my work over.

In three weeks I had 100 subscribers and around 150 followers, and I had made three $15,000 sales!

Next to 15,000 Facebook followers who never saw my posts anymore, that might number may sound small. But every one of those hundred people raised their hand to hear from me. That’s a different kind of audience than a feed full of strangers scrolling past.

This week I’m walking through exactly how to set this up, the publication, the content flow, the growth strategy, the plan that actually compounds instead of disappearing into a feed.

If you’ve been watching a platform you’ve built for years get noisier and less reliable, or if you’ve heard people talk about Substack and wondered whether it’s worth the time, this is the week to find out. September brings the biggest selling season of the year on this platform, and the people set up before then have a real head start on the ones who aren’t.

Be Real. Take A Stand. Change Lives.
